“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”-Psalm 118:24 (NLT).
I’m sure we have all experienced moments in our lives where we need to encourage ourselves. Whether it is a difficult season we are walking through, a decision that seems to be weighing us down, or life’s uncertainty, we all need some encouragement through this journey of life.
I have learned joy isn’t conditional to my circumstances. It isn’t even based on if I feel happy, but it is a choice. Joy can shift my perspective to see things through the lens of faith and provide encouragement even through life’s difficulties.
When we wake up every morning, we have the ability to choose joy no matter what the day may bring but because of the assurance of our confident hope in Jesus. We can choose to rejoice in the day, He has gifted us with knowing that if He allowed us to see another day, it is for a purpose.
As Believers, we can delight in knowing our Heavenly Father has the very best in store for us every day and we can rejoice and be glad in it.
Even through difficulties, we can be sure of one thing – God is good and because we are His daughters, we will be good.
This verse has always reminded me of how I have the authority to choose joy. When I wake up and see how the Lord has entrusted me with another day, I can choose joy. As I begin my workday, joy can echo throughout my heart. And even when my plans don’t go as expected, I can choose joy because I know I am enveloped in the love of my Heavenly Father.
Will you choose joy today regardless of what the day may bring?
Prayer: Father, we thank You for the joy You have gifted us with today. This joy isn’t based on our circumstances or everything going as planned but it is through our assurance of who You are in our lives. Thank You that nothing we go through is wasted as it is all used for our good. Thank you that no matter what, we have the opportunity to choose joy. Let us rejoice today giving You all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise. Let Your joy be our strength.
