Fight to Flourish

“He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” ~ Revelation 21:5 NIV

There is always an excitement about starting something new. Perhaps because a new start brings new hope. A fresh perspective. New energy. Great anticipation for new endeavors that we can only dream of.

Like me, I bet you still remember the thrill of starting the year 2020 with grand expectations and enthusiasm of great things to come. But the year turned out to be much more different than anything we could have ever imagined. We made our plans as always, but God had a different plan. What a reminder of Proverbs 19:21, “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” (NLT)

It took all year long and with so many twists and turns, we still couldn’t figure out what God was really up to in 2020. But He was faithful to keep us under the shadow of His wings through all the chaos, challenges, and changes of 2020.

Now as we step into the new year 2021, maybe you’re a little hesitant about getting too excited or putting your hopes up, for fear that it may be dashed because you’re not sure what to really expect. That’s a normal reaction and response from someone who’s been burned or hurt before. You don’t just jump in with arms in the air and feet off the ground the next time around because you are afraid of being disappointed.

Whether we’re conscious of it or not, we may be going into a new year with a little bit of reservation because we’re not sure what to really expect this time around. Maybe you’re teetering a little more cautiously with your dreams, visions, goals and expectations, just in case it doesn’t go as you planned.

Our greatest enemy, the devil would take advantage of any opportunity to highlight our past pain and disappointments, and magnify our fears, so that we would cower and live beneath the potential of our dreams and God’s purpose for our lives.

Don’t let fear and past disappointments stop you from believing that in this new year 2021, God is doing a new thing.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ~ Isaiah 43:19 NIV

No matter what happened last year, fight to believe with all your heart, for the new things that God will cause to spring forth in this year.

New dreams.

New visions.

New passions.

New endeavors.

New perspectives.

New ways of doing things.

And so much more….

We may be entering a new year, BUT GOD doesn’t change. He is always FAITHFUL!

And He will walk with us through the year 2021 just like He did the year beforeWe can be assured of that.

So let’s fight to dream new dreams and have a confident expectation, that no matter what 2021 holds, we are daughters of the Most High God, the Creator of Universe and He will never fail us. His plans for us will always be for good and not evil (Jeremiah 29:11).

Let’s believe that the God who is for us, and on our side, He has gone before us in this new year, to fight for us until we possess and flourish in our promised land.

Do you have any reservations that maybe limiting your dreams and expectations for 2021?

What steps can you take from now on, to fight fear, doubt and unbelief, so that you can flourish in the new things that God will do this year?
