“Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].” ~ Isaiah 41:10 (AMP)
The Unexpected
The crisis of Covid-19 has taken the world by surprise and forced us all to slam the brakes on our busy lives.
Suddenly, all the things we thought were important and that we were busy chasing after, aren’t a priority anymore because life is more precious.
Many are overwhelmed with fear, worry and anxiety because of the unknown as we battle the Covid-19 pandemic.
Unprecedented Faith
We are living in unprecedented times and such times call for unprecedented FAITH.
While so many people around us have given into fear which cripples and controls their lives, we as children of God must remind ourselves that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Fear is the enemy’s greatest weapon to make us,
• Shrink back
• Doubt God
• Doubt ourselves and
• Prevent us from stepping into all that God has promised us.
God knew that fear is our worst enemy and that’s why He mentions it in the bible hundreds of times, “Do Not Fear!”
Faith over Fear
Fear is a restlessness, an edginess, a dread that turns our what-ifs into certainties that a storm is coming. We live constantly worried that something bad will happen.
That’s a lie that makes you a slave to fear.
The apostle Paul tells us in Romans 8:15 (NLT) that, “you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
“Fear freezes our faith. But when we fight, our faith frees us from fear.” ~ Alli Worthington, Fierce Faith pg 22.
“We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have FAITH and preserve their souls.” – Hebrews 10:39 (ESV)
Friend, this is not the time for you and I, to shrink back in fear but to fight fear with FIERCE FAITH and the TRUTH of God’s Word.
It’s time to let our FAITH rise above our fears because we know the ONE in whom we believe.
GOD is sovereign and in control of the crisis and circumstances we face. He is ABOVE IT ALL. “For with God nothing will be impossible.” ~ Luke 1:37.
Fight Fear with Fierce Faith
Your fears and worries may look different than mine. With the current crisis of Covid-19, where businesses are shutting down and jobs are in jeopardy. This causes fear over finances.
You may worry that money will run out or wonder how you’ll pay the bills or that a loved one may become sick or that something bad will happen to your children. We all carry the weight of fear and everyone’s burden is unique.
But we don’t have to live under the crushing weight of fear that overwhelms us with all the what-if scenarios that may never happen.
The apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:16 (ESV) that, “in all circumstances, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.”
What-ifs are driven by fear and are lies from the enemy that we worry may come true. We need to drown out those lies with the truth of God’s word.
It’s Time to Fight
We are not fighting an ordinary or physical battle. “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” ~ Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)
It’s time for us to fight the things that scare us. Things that keep us up at night with worry. The anxieties that steal todays’ joy by focusing on tomorrow’s problems.
Instead of letting fear, worry and anxiety overwhelm us, let’s fight back with fierce faith. Let’s stop hiding from what scares us and believe in a God who is faithful to keep his promises to us.
You don’t have to live life frozen in fear. Let’s stand on the truth of who God says we are until our fears are replaced by our faith in God.
