MomStrong: Becoming Unshakable ~ Week 6

A Journey of Uncertainties.

Sometimes motherhood feels like a crazy roller coaster ride, with ups and downs, unexpected turns and bumps along the road.

We may feel deep joy, excitement, fulfilment and a sense of purpose for the awe-inspiring privilege to be a mom to our children. Grateful that we’ve been entrusted with these wonderful gifts from God.

Yet other times, we feel stressed and overwhelmed with fear, anxiety and pain. Because of the uncertainties and challenges we face in this arduous journey. This is certainly not for the faint of heart.

Doing What Matters.

We can sometimes become discouraged by our current circumstances that may not look like anything we had envisioned.

We invest a lot of time teaching. Correcting. Disciplining. Counseling and doing all we can to bring out the best in our children because we want the very best for them.

And when we don’t see changes in our children right away, we may wonder if all that we’re doing really matters. Or if it even makes a difference.

Don’t Give Up.

The tedious work we do as moms can feel wearisome but be encouraged and “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” ~ Galatians 6:9 NLT

Don’t give up doing the best you can. Don’t give up sowing seeds right now that will reap a harvest later on. Don’t give up doing the little things that will one day make a big difference in the lives in your children. Your labor is not in vain. Your work will be rewarded. You will reap a harvest of blessing, if you don’t give up.

2 Chronicles 15:7 says, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”

Stand Strong.

The days may seem long, but the years are short, and motherhood is only for a season. We’re on a God-given assignment. We’re in a spiritual battle for the purpose and destiny of our children.

Our children are part of a beautiful story that God is writing in our lives. A story of becoming the mom He has called us to be.

It’s not going to be a perfect story. We won’t always get it right. We may be unsure of the challenges every new chapter will unveil.

But through the uncertainties, failures, tears and pain, God has a purpose for us. And we can trust that God has given us everything we need for each season and every struggle we face.

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” ~ Ephesians 6:10-13 (NLT)
